Laura Strausburg-Smith
Laura is a compassionate therapist who works with children, teens, and adults through a strengths-based and solution-focused approach. She is passionate about helping individuals build confidence, emotional resilience, and practical coping skills while feeling supported and understood throughout the therapeutic process.
Laura incorporates play-based interventions with children and teens, along with emotional regulation skill-building, social-emotional learning, coping strategies, and problem-solving in developmentally appropriate ways. She values helping clients respond to difficult thoughts and emotions with greater flexibility, self-compassion, and connection to what matters most to them.
As both a clinician and caregiver of a child with complex needs, Laura has a special interest in supporting caregivers navigating the emotional, behavioral, medical, and daily challenges that can accompany long-term caregiving roles. She believes meaningful growth begins by meeting clients where they are and building upon their existing strengths and supports.
Outside of therapy, Laura enjoys giving back to the community through involvement with Jayland Partners, helping foster inclusion, connection, and support for individuals with disabilities and their caregivers.
At Encompass Behavioral Group, Laura is committed to creating a supportive and collaborative space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow.
